These 35 mm slides were shot at the Westminster Service Station during the filming of Some Of The People Some Of The Time by Peggy Fleming Lay, daughter-in-law of station owner Kenneth E. Lay. The photos were provided by Ken's son, Ed Lay, along with the Cumberland County Historical Society.

We are very grateful to the Lay family and the Historical Society for their permission to use these photographs.

The hydraulic lift on the front of the truck was used quite often to hold the camera for elevated shots.

I believe that the man in the red jacket is director Robert Altman. Can anyone confirm?

Out of the hundreds of photos now posted on this web site, this shot of the Lay children with Maharis and Milner has to be my absolute favorite.

Four-year-old Kimberly Lay had to have been the envy of every teen-age girl in town, yet she was too young to know why.

And after writing comments above, I received this correspondence:

I was only four at the time of the filming, but I recall it being a fun day. My main memory of the filming was sitting on their sports car. I remember the band that played in my Grandparents' service station. I am sure I had no idea at the time who the actors were, but I do remember the excitement of the day and that it was a "big deal."
