Baltimore Marine Repair Yards

As far as I could discover this is what's left of the Baltimore Marine Repair Yards, where Tod and Buz worked in "A Bridge Across 5 Days."

Baltimore Marine Repair Yards

Another part of the former Baltimore Marine Repair Yards. This building may have been used for scenes inside the repair yards' personnel office.

Baltimore Marine Repair Yards

The blue fence marks the rear edge where the Balto. Marine Repair Yards once stood. Beyond the fence on the distant right stand the office buildings of Baltimore's downtown, while in the middle and closer to the camera is the Inner Harbor. On the left, just beyond the fence (with the letters "L" "O" "V" "E") is the red brick building housing the American Visionary Art Museum, where the works of many "home grown" (self taught) artists are displayed.

Spring Grove State Hospital

Here are shots of Spring Grove State Hospital in Catonsville, Maryland: taken June 1, 2005. The grounds and buildings seem unchanged, although the place is quieter now and some of the buildings are boarded up. Note the tape and fencing around the main administration buildings, which probably were the hub of the place when Tod and Buz came through there.

Dormitory

One of the dormitory buildings of Spring Grove State Hospital, in Catonsville, MD. Note the the Baltimore Beltway, built just a few years after this episode was filmed, now runs just behind this building, which may be the one the character played by Nina Foch lived in before being released back into society. Note that there are 4 identical buildings like this one, so we had to "pick one" to photograph and hope it was the one used in the episode.

A Derelict Building

... at Spring Grove State Hospital, long since boarded up after the hospital's population began to decline.

Campus

A part of Spring Grove's sprawling campus that is still functioning, albeit with considerably lessened staff and patient population since Tod and Buz' visit in the fall of 1961.

Statue of Jesus

Large and imposing statue of Jesus in the front lobby of Johns Hopkins Hospital in downtown Baltmore, MD. Note that this statue is in the front lobby, the entrance (shown in photo # 18, under "The Mud Nest") to which is now closed.

COME unto ME...

This touching quote provides the succor and emotional support Buz sought in the quest for his birth mother and also provides touching and fitting closing words for this episode.
